Butt connectors are used to splice wires together when performing electrical repairs on your vehicle. VW and Audi do not approve us soldering to repair wiring on their vehicles has a solder connection can have a different resistance value than the wire your repairing hence why only butt connectors are approved as they do not modify the resistance of the circuit once installed.

The beauty of these also is that once crimped you apply heat (via a small torch or lighter) and they shrink and seal the connection, a glue also comes out of the ends to also seal the connection even more. If properly crimped and shrinked there is no way water or corrosion will compromise your repair!
